Visit ‘Historic Harwich’ – IMT Barge Trips
June 11 @ 9:00 am - 5:30 pm£65
Spend a day exploring Historic Harwich with a guide from the Harwich Society, after a morning’s sail on ‘Victor’ to Harwich Ha’penny pier. This is followed by an afternoon’s sail back to Ipswich.
Leaving from outside the Old Custom House, Ipswich at 9am and returning approximately 5.30pm, ‘Victor’ will motor/sail to Harwich Ha’penny pier. You will leave the ‘Victor’ at approx. 10.45am/11.00am for a conducted tour of Historic Harwich Town by two guides from the Harwich Society. The tour will last approx. 90 minutes and you will then return to the ‘Victor’ at 12.30pm for drinks and lunch at 13.00pm (two-course meal with wine). ‘Victor’ will then leave Harwich at 15.00pm to sail/motor back to the Old Custom House with a tea on the way.
‘Victor’ was built in 1895 by Shrubsalls at Ipswich for Owen Parry of Colchester, and was mainly used in the linseed oil trade. In 1947 she was the last sailing barge to be decommissioned. She was converted to a motor barge in the 1950s, but restored in 1974 and refurbished in 2005-2007.
Book through Bob Pawsey or John Warren on 01473 252893 or firstname.lastname@example.org. The cost per person will be £65 which includes a donation to the Harwich Society.
